(West Palm Beach, Florida.) -- OFFICE 1 SUPERSTORES INTERNATIONAL Inc. today announced the forthcoming introduction of Office 1 superstores in Haiti.
The Master Franchise, Fourniture Expo, started out in 1997 as a 600 Sq Ft stationery store founded by a young and dynamic entrepreneur, Claudel Dumas, and his wife Katia a lifelong school teacher and the founder and Principal of a modern pre-elementary school. Both were animated by the vision of offering basic stationery with reliable service and free delivery to a diverse clientele whose expectations had been raised by the recent lifting of the US embargo.
In 1999, this embryo store was expanded to 3,500 Sq Ft to accommodate the addition of office furniture to the assortment. Ten years later, through hard work and diligence Fourniture Expo had become a three-store operation with more than 50 employees and a warehouse of 12,000 Sq Ft delivering nationally.
Undeterred by the 2010 earthquake and a general downsizing of competition, Claudel Dumas recently contacted OFFICE 1 to become the master franchisee for Haiti.
The first Office 1 Superstore in Haiti will open just in time for back-to-school this year to be followed by two sub-franchised stores covering the northern and southern parts of the country. OFFICE 1 Haiti will consolidate the market share achieved by FourniturExpo and provide its business clients, as well as students and their families, with an expanded assortment at unbeatable prices, in a modern and colorful 3,000 Sq Ft store located in Petion-Ville’s best shopping mall.
The story does not stop here. In Claudel Dumas’ own words: “Katia and I believe that a better education means a better nation. The size of our business will be determined by the size of our faith. On June 21st, 2011 OFFICE 1 Bulgaria in collaboration with HP launched a second HP Print Station at the seaside city of Varna.
At the opening ceremony the ribbon was cut by Mrs. Elka Kamenova -General Manager of OFFICE 1 Bulgaria, the OFFICE 1 master franchisee, and Mr. Nikolay Dimitrov - Head of the Imaging and Printing Group at HP Bulgaria. The new service will provide wide access to print all kinds of advertising materials for small and medium enterprises.
This HP Print Station in Bulgaria follows the first one launched in mid-May at the OFFICE 1 flagship store in Sofia.
"In less than a month, we’ve printed over 30,000 copies, 17,000 of which are in color. The customers come, choose one of the ready templates and order their corporate forms, business cards, brochures, etc. at optimal price. This shows that the service has great potential for development and that our customers are beginning to benefit from its full capabilities. OFFICE 1 buyers attended one of China’s largest office products trade events – the Canton Fair, which held its last session between April 15th and May 5th in Guangzhou, China.
The fair is held twice a year in Spring and Autumn and is a comprehensive event of international importance. Its most important role is to boost China export sales and strengthen its economic relations with other nations.
The 109th edition of Canton Fair was reported to be the most successful session of all times by its organizers. Exhibitors from over 53 countries participated and a total of 207,103 visitors and buyers attended the Fair.
OFFICE 1 International team in charge of sourcing and logistics of OFFICE 1 China Export visited the fair accompanied by buying teams from OFFICE 1 Philippines and OFFICE 1 Indonesia. OFFICE 1 Bulgaria head buyers were also present at the fair.

The HP Print Station provides new opportunities for reliable, high quality multi-format color printing of business and marketing materials from numerous media sources. The set up and equipment of the Print Stations fit well with the OFFICE 1 store interiors and complement the products and services this leader on the Bulgarian market is famous for. OFFICE 1’s Joint Venture partner is König Bürotechnik, a corporation based in Friedberg. Founded in 1976, König Bürotechnik started out as an office machines repair and service shop. It was acquired in 2002 by the Aristik Group, a national network of ten companies and 350 employees active in a number of office products fields, such as the sale of hardware and technical service and support, IT- solutions and consulting, and a dealership for the sale of office supplies, furniture and equipment. The group’s combined annual turnover is in excess of 150 mm Euros.
Aristik is also a distributor of well known office machines brands and is a 2011 HP Preferred Partner Gold and a Large Format Partner of Canon.
The “Office 1 e-Shop.de” platform will go on line in July 2011 under the young leadership of Volker Schlautek, followed by the OFFICE 1 E-Entrepreneur Student Program which provides students with earning opportunities and entrepreneurial experience selling office products on the OFFICE 1 e-shop and capitalizing on their social networks.
Further joint venture entries in other European markets are programmed for 2011 starting with the Czech Republic in August this year.

OFFICE 1 Libya launched its first superstore July 12, 2010. The store is 1200 m2 in size spread over two floors and is located in the main business district of Tripoli, the capital.
The store has been a great success for the public since its launch and is a unique in Libya in terms of size and the fact that businesses can find all their office needs under one roof. A second store is scheduled for mid 2011 and the first ever office products catalog will be mailed in March 2011. Let it not be said that OFFICE 1 shrinks away from unexplored but promising markets.

On February 19 and 20, the 10th Annual OFFICE1 Master Franchisee Meeting took place in Istanbul. Messrs Sacit and Mehmet Samli, master franchisee for Turkey, hosted the meeting at the Sheraton Princess in Maslak.
President and CEO Mark Baccash recapped the group’s developments in the past year and reviewed the prospects for growth in the context of the global economic crisis.
Speakers from various Office 1 countries presented the progress of their franchises and participated in discussions on prospects for product sourcing, collective buying and how best to face current economic conditions.
The meeting ended on a high note at a fish restaurant on the Bosporus with all participants looking forward to a difficult but manageable year and to the next global gathering.

The first OFFICE 1 store in Peru was inaugurated on August 28th this year in downtown Lima. The launching ceremony was attended by a number of local officials, press members and distributors of international brands. At the ceremony, OFFICE 1 Peru announced bold plans to launch at least ten more locations in the next 12 months.
The addition of Peru to Office 1 portfolio of countries will strengthen the company position in Latin America and help future expansion in growing markets in the region.

With competition in the OP industry getting keener every day and the cost of products ballooning, OFFICE 1 had to adopt the right strategies and move fast to help its master franchisees find alternative product sources. Mr. Ashok Srivastava - CEO of Office 1 Superstore India, was a guest speaker at the annual OPI conference in Rome. The topics covered included trends in the office products market in India, an analysis of distribution systems and buying behaviors in that market as well as future developments in what Ashok describes as a “country with limitless potential".
Office 1 was the first multinational company to enter the Indian OP busines in 2005. Its first steps in this complex and diverse country were challenging to say the least. The problems Office 1 faced included staff attrition, management turnover, dealing with the well known bureaucracy inherited from the British and of course adjusting to the Indian way of "doing things". In spite of this and due to the determination of the licensee, Indo Rama Retail Holdings Ltd, three stores were launched in New Delhi and three franchises inaugurated shortly after.
Office 1’s real breakthrough came with the appointment as CEO of Ashok Srivastava who brings years of experience in the office products business to his position at Office 1 India. With him on board, Office 1 was again on the move with the appointment of its first regional developer in the area of Chennai where the first store is to be opened in mid-July.

Over 2000 employees, franchisees and partners gathered the weekend of June 10th to celebrate the tenth anniversary of OFFICE 1 in Bulgaria. The party was held in the picturesque glades of Ilinden, near the first class ski resort of Pamporovo.
Guests were accommodated in various area hotels and received a gift pack including souvenirs labeled for the event. Anyone daring enough to climb the 1600 meters mountain was rewarded with unlimited supplies of food and wine to keep warm.
Entertainment included traditional Bulgarian folk music and singing, popular Bulgarian bands and various prize wining games for all those present. The heavy showers did not chase anyone away and the extemporaneous dance floor was well packed regardless of weather conditions.
With more than one hundred and fifty stores, a sophisticated network for servicing customers and numerous awards for excellence, Office 1 Bulgaria is the indisputable leader in the market. Let’s extend our best wishes for another ten years of continuing success.

The week of May 24rd, OFFICE 1 International had a booth at the Dubai Franchise Fair, the most famous of its kind in the Middle East. The booth was manned by Messrs.Hussein Zebib and Waleed Sghaier respectively General Managers of OFFICE 1 Qatar and Saudi Arabia and Glenn Reed , Export Director for International. The fair was well attended and there was a great deal of interest in the OFFICE 1 concept from a number of prospective visitors. Today OFFICE 1 announced the forthcoming introduction of office product superstores in Peru.
The master franchisee, T-Copia, owns thirteen sophisticated, Kinko-like, service centers in Peru and three photocopy centers under the name Peru Copia. Additionally, the master franchisee is the exclusive distributor of Canon office machines for Peru with a list of some 10,000 office customers and a large sales force calling on these accounts.
OFFICE 1 believes it has found in T-Copia an exceptional master franchisee for entering the $400 mm office products market of Peru. The plan is to launch the first 300m2 superstore in a company-owned building in the center of Lima. Following this launch the three Peru Copia stores will be converted to OFFICE 1.
Starting in September 2008 an OFFICE 1 section will be created inside the thirteen T-Copia stores in Lima at the rhythm of one store per month for a minimum of six conversions in 2008.
Sub franchising with a focus on converting existing copy centers will start in 2009 after all T-Copia and Peru Copia stores have been re-configured.
Mark Baccash stated: “The fact that the master owns well located stores in Lima and the synergy with the Canon sales force should ensure that the chances for success are greatly enhanced.

As in previous years, OFFICE 1 had a large booth at the Paperworld Office Products Fair in Frankfurt - January 24th to 28th. There we were able to meet new master franchise candidates and key vendors, present new OFFICE 1 branded products as well as provide a gathering point for the many OFFICE 1 master franchisees present at the fair to meet with stationers and suppliers.

Mark Baccash, President and CEO of the Office 1 group, stated that American companies, including Office 1, couldn’t resist the attractiveness of the Vietnamese market, with over 84 million people, and that it was time to establish business ties with Vietnamese partners.
He also emphasized that foreign companies were also coming to Vietnam, and the number would increase particularly when the country joined the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Mr Baccash said he hoped that in his first trip to Vietnam this time he could find local partners to franchise the Office 1 International brand.
Vietnamese partners must be experts about the domestic market and the consumption habits of Vietnamese people, he added.
However, he said he was worried that the transfer of business knowledge to local partners and salesman training in Vietnam would take longer than in other countries because franchising in Vietnam was still new.

Office 1 Ireland would like to announce the addition of 5 new stores to the evergrowing franchise on the Irish market. New office 1 shops, located in Donegal, Newcastle West, Rathmines, Tralee and Tullamore will open their doors over the next four weeks. Office 1 Franchise Ireland, established in March of this year, will have exceeded highest expectations and will already have ten shops in Ireland by the end of the year.
